The Denim Jeans Market is worth $56 Billion. Human Trafficking? $150 Billion. One of the world's mot sustainable denim company, Outland Denim, is shedding light on this major injustice as World Human Trafficking Day comes around on July 30th.
With 40 million men, women and children being trafficked annually, Outland has made it their mission to fight this industry by hiring and training vulnerable people or survivors of human trafficking. Slavery did not end in the 60's, we are now seeing modern slavery in the form of forced labor, debt bondage, and exploitation of children. In fact, 1 in 4 victims of modern slavery are children. The company has huge hopes to end one of the world's greatest injustices, but in order to make global change, we need to spread the awareness!
Outland Denim and I are asking you to spread the awareness tomorrow and honour the UN's World Day Against Trafficking in Persons by using the hashtag #WorldDayAgainstTrafficking. This hashtag only has 752 tags. A $150 BILLION black market industry that plays a significant role in the fashion industry only has these 752 voices online, but we are about to change that.
You might think trafficking doesn't happen near you, but human trafficking exists in every state in America and have major global hubs in Asia. We need your help to stop this $150 Billion industry.
